52 Weeks of Collage Part 2 Week 49

I really enjoy doing the 3-D collages on a cube - there's something about turning the cube and having the design flow from side to side. It definitely takes more planning. This week I used hand made Japanese papers, Japanese calligraphy and images of a geisha and a butterfly.

52 Weeks of Collage Part 2 Week 46

My collage this week started with a photo that reminds me of my grandmother. She was very elegant and I have several pictures from the early 1900's where she is wearing a hat just like this.

52 Weeks of Collage Part 2 Week 43

It's almost Halloween so my collage this week is done in black and orange ...but no pumpkins here. It's a treat with handmade papers, a vintage document scrap and some favorite rubber stamps.

Another collage on  a birch wood board, this one started with some hand made marbled paper that I've had in my stash for ages. I also used some vintage ledger papers and a butterfly, keeping in the colors of the marbled paper.

This week's collage is done on birch board. I used some antique ledger paper from 1890, vintage wallpaper, and a bird that I printed on a vintage letter. The bird is printed from my hand carved linoleum block and then embellished with pen and ink.

52 Weeks of Collage Part 2 Week 37

Two things I love for collage - vintage documents and birch boards. The boards are someasy to collage on since they are nice and flat. And the edges are square. I've purchased some pretty wonky canvases before - lumpy, not stretched tight and the sided weren't parallel. Makes you wonder if the factory worker was a tad drunk.
So this week, vintage documents on a birch board.
