This week for my collage challenge, I did 3 tags all with an Asian theme. All use a variety of hand made and vintage papers. I dyed the string a muted peach.
I really enjoy doing the 3-D collages on a cube - there's something about turning the cube and having the design flow from side to side. It definitely takes more planning. This week I used hand made Japanese papers, Japanese calligraphy and images of a geisha and a butterfly.
This week's collage features some of my Japanese scraps -a vintage photo of a geisha, an old apothecary label, some Japanese calligraphy, and floral washi paper.
Everything is coming up roses! I just purchased a pack of vintage wallpaper from Etsy shop reginasstudio (the ledger paper in the background is from the same shop) and was inspired by a piece with a large pink rose. I whitewashed one of my wood panels and then rubber stamped a pattern with gold ink. The wallpaper, a few scraps of Japanese washi paper and a fragment of a vintage document complete the collage.
More butterflies this week. I used all different documents to collage a background and on top, layered a butterfly, hand made Japanese papers and some rubber stamping.
I'm a graphic designer who can't stop creating. I love creating on paper but I also have dabbled in pottery, sewing and jewelry making. I am a big collector of things-children's book illustrations, vintage hankies, pottery and bird items to name a few.
